Goose hunting

A feature of the biology of twice per day to fly out to feed on the fields - is the basis of hunting geese. 1-1.5 hours before the arrival of geese need to be in the field: arrange the profiles, so that they saw the birds flying up, correct the tail, check all the equipment and wait...
Usually geese warn of his approach loud roll call, but sometimes they can fly silently, especially in cloudy weather. In the old hunting literature write about the geese scouts. Indeed, solitary birds sometimes fly up to the field before the arrival of the flocks, but this is not a rule, but rather an exception. More often couples and singles arrive last.
If You are well-camouflaged and set up the profiles, hunting geese would be a good. Even for professionals, every visit leaves a lasting impression. Especially worried about the approach of gray geese: flock by flock floating to the field and above it suddenly fall on the wing, as if falling from a great height with a characteristic loud noise. White-fronted geese and humennyky not these aerial acrobats! The bird then make a few big circles gradually decreasing and now they are on the course of lethal shot. Do not expect that after the next round they will be closer - on the contrary, the geese still something alert, and they will move to another part of the field, where they will land and start to feed. In this case, You lost: all of the following flocks of geese will quickly sit down to nursing, and You with shame will be to look at them through binoculars. If the first shots will be "moderately" You will be able to fire at some flocks arriving behind each other. But do not get carried away, be prudent, on a successful hunt stop in time, and watch what is happening without shots. In this case, you will be able to spend the next or maybe several hunts on this field.
In hunting geese can participate in a 1-h person (a large group is undesirable). Remember a few rules which will bring You success: do not climb out of the trench without the need (often the geese fly up suddenly without sound), when approaching geese stand, as the birds notice the slightest movement; skidivaite the gun and aim quickly and only when birds are at a distance of steady shot; pre-emption shall not be less than the body of the goose, as the flight they are very fast:
75-80 km / h - that's the "normal" speed floating in the sky flocks!
A professional hunter knows well the behavior of geese, the vicinity of water bodies, fields, where geese are fed from year to year, and their favorite goose food. "Professional" you learn on equipment: binoculars, goose profiles from a cardboard or plywood, sapper shovel... Using binoculars to find a field on which birds feed. It is important to find out in what part of the field geese fed. It is impossible to disturb birds during feeding and to disturb them during flight to a reservoir. Now is the hardest part of hunting - digging a foxhole. It should be sufficiently deep and spacious, but small. Land, if a field with winter crops, we have to carry for several hundred meters, otherwise the black spot will alert birds, and geese will not fly up to the profiles.
Goose hunting is probably the most intelligent and emotional at the same time practical: extraction solid (grey goose 3.5-5 kg, white-fronted and 2.1-5 kg), and besides, a carcass with almost no cholesterol! Good goose with apples, buckwheat porridge, prunes, and just stewed. In addition, get the skills of a qualified digger.
